Tourism Spending Rises in Shreveport-Bossier, Annual Report Shows

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, La. – Shreveport-Bossier saw tourism gains in 2024, with both domestic and international visitors driving growth in spending across restaurants, hotels and entertainment, according to the annual report released by Visit Shreveport-Bossier on World Tourism Day.

International visitors spent $3.2 million in the region last year, part of $252.9 million spent statewide, according to VisaVue Travel Data. The top five international markets for Shreveport-Bossier were Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Germany and Puerto Rico. Spending on restaurants and dining grew 42.6 percent, while hotels and lodging posted a 22.7 percent increase.

Domestic tourism was a larger driver, with 9.7 million visitors generating $1.4 billion in spending, according to Longwoods International. That included 4.2 million overnight stays and 5.5 million day trips. Overnight travelers alone spent $933 million, with lodging accounting for $283 million, recreation and entertainment $259 million, restaurants $186 million, retail $121 million and transportation $84 million.

The report noted that 86 percent of overnight travelers were repeat visitors and 60 percent of them reported being “very satisfied” with their experience.

Visit Shreveport-Bossier said the growth supports its 10-year Destination Masterplan, which prioritizes sports tourism and the meetings and conventions sector. Sports tourism generated more than $47 million in 2024, while conventions contributed nearly 70,000 room nights.

Stacy Brown, president and CEO of Visit Shreveport-Bossier, said tourism plays a direct role in supporting local services and jobs.
