“NSU promotes economic growth in northwest and central Louisiana through its direct expenditures and the resulting expenditures of visitors, students and regional businesses,” said NSU President Dr. James T. Benefits to Students and Taxpayers

Taxpayers also receive a positive return on investment:
- $1.60 in public value for every dollar invested
- $8.30 in societal value per dollar, including improved health outcomes and reduced public assistance needs
The university also plays a role in community service, with students and faculty supporting local nonprofits, small businesses, and public service organizations. NSU continues to serve as a critical pipeline for trained professionals in high-demand sectors throughout the region.
The study used NSU’s 2023–2024 academic and financial data, as well as state and federal labor statistics, to assess the university’s tangible economic contributions.
