Mike McSwain Architect, LLC Celebrates 20 Years of Business

Mike McSwain Architect, LLC is a full-service design and architectural firm that has been operating out of downtown Shreveport since 2005. This April, Mike McSwain Architect celebrated 20 years of business as a locally-owned architectural firm creating mindful, innovative, and functional design.

Over the course of his career, founder Mike McSwain has put his mark on the landscape of Shreveport and Bossier City. From earlier work on the Sci-Port Discovery Center and the Bossier Parish Community College campus, to the steadily growing East Bank District and Cyber Research Park, Mike McSwain’s architecture has left an indelible impact on our community.

“Architecture, quite literally, shapes every place you go. On a day-to-day basis, from your workplace to recreation, you’re interacting with architecture,” said McSwain. “Architecture isn’t just necessary for buildings to function, it’s a key component of life.”

McSwain and his team work diligently to create quality, mindful designs that serve the client’s needs - whether that client is a government entity developing a district or a homeowner who wants a farmhouse. With decades of experience, McSwain leads his team to create some of the most iconic modern buildings in our region.

“Design matters. Our goal is to create inspiring environments where people want to be together. We design places where shared experiences can bind us together and instill pride in our community,” said McSwain.

Recent projects from Mike McSwain Architect are their work with Tailwind Concessions, designing restaurants, bars, and retail stores in airports across the United States. This work began in 2011 and MMA has now worked on over 20 different airport locations all over the nation.

While Mike McSwain Architect has become an international firm, Shreveport-Bossier is still hugely important to McSwain and his team.

“We take pride in our home and our people here in Shreveport-Bossier,” said McSwain. “Designing spaces that serve our community and make Shreveport and Bossier City better places to live has been incredibly fulfilling.  Even more rewarding is watching how these places have become integral to the urban fabric of our hometown.”
