LSUS cranking up Homecoming celebration with 50th anniversary of first four-year class
SHREVEPORT -- LSUS has celebrated various achievements and milestones in the past year, from record enrollment and graduation numbers to vital research projects.
This Homecoming season represents another milestone as LSUS is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its first four-year graduating class of 1975.
LSUS Chancellor Dr. Robert Smith invites all alumni and the community to commemorate this historic event during Homecoming Week, which lasts from Jan. 28 through Feb. 1.
“This year we’re celebrating a very special homecoming as LSUS graduated its first four-year class 50 years ago,” Smith said. “While we’ll be welcoming back all of our alumni and the community to our campus for Homecoming, we’ll be marking a special anniversary and celebration from the Class of 1975.
“Plan to return to LSU Shreveport – there’s no place like home.”
The events kick off with Tuesday evening’s bonfire and Wednesday’s Homecoming Parade, which will feature the Woodlawn Leadership Academy band.
Thursday’s events are highlighted by a Homecoming Tailgate leading into the basketball doubleheader against Paul Quinn College.
After Friday’s Alumni Awards Brunch, the community is invited to attend academic open houses across campus to learn about the latest with specific LSUS programs.
Baseball and basketball are on the docket Saturday before the Class of 1975 celebrates their 50-year anniversary with a reunion.
