LSU Shreveport looks to fill cybersecurity gap for business community
The Security Operations Center (SOC) at LSU Shreveport employs students of all majors to protect the university’s network.
Under the direction of the university’s IT staff and computer science faculty, the SOC trains LSUS students to monitor LSUS’s network traffic and identify and respond to cybersecurity threats.
Students receive proper training through third-party member TekStream, who also monitors networks outside of business hours.
Each semester, a team of six students gets hands-on experience working as SOC analysts, a field that is growing rapidly to combat the ever-growing presence of cyberattacks.
Because cybersecurity firms seek analysts with previous experience, LSUS is producing industry-ready job seekers who can compete in the marketplace.
In an effort to continue to grow our students’ hands-on experience while benefitting businesses in the region, the computer science faculty and SOC are exploring opportunities to assist the greater business community with their cybersecurity needs as well.
As business leaders, your input is important. Please take this quick survey so the LSU Shreveport students and faculty can assess the cybersecurity needs of the Shreveport-Bossier business community and work to fill the gaps in trainings, courses and service offerings.
