Haughton Fire Department Receives New Firefighting Bunker Gear

Haughton, LA – Mayor Hunter J. Timms and Haughton Fire Chief, Jimmy Holland, are pleased to announce receipt of new structural firefighting gear, manufactured by FireDex, critical for ensuring the safety and effectiveness of Haughton’s first responders.

The purchase of this gear was made possible by Governor Jeff Landry, Senator Adam Bass, and Representative Dodie Horton through the allocation of $75,000 from the 2024 State Appropriation Funds. The town of Haughton would like to extend their upmost gratitude to these officials for continuing to invest in local communities across the state. Additionally, a special thanks to BFA of LA and Shreveport Fire Department’s Chief Clarence Reese for assistance in procurement.

FireDex’s AeroFlex gear was purchased at a cost of $55,698.00 and is designed to significantly reduce heat stress on firefighters, which is the leading cause for Line of Duty Deaths among firefighters nationally. The remaining available funds are being utilized for portable radios and Computer Aided Dispatch solutions to improve emergency response.
