BPCC Bossier City Campus Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Special Ceremony
The Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) Bossier City Campus celebrated a major milestone on Thursday, February 27, 2025, marking its 20th anniversary with a special ceremony and reception that brought together community leaders, educators, and students.
“This campus has been a pillar of opportunity and progress for thousands of students over the past 20 years,” said Dr. Rick Bateman, BPCC Chancellor. “Today, we not only celebrate our history but also look forward to a future filled with even greater success.”
The 10 a.m. event welcomed esteemed dignitaries, BPCC administration, faculty, staff, and students, all gathered to reflect on two decades of educational excellence and workforce development in Bossier Parish and beyond. Attendees highlighted the college’s significant contributions to higher education and its role in shaping the careers of thousands of graduates.
Speakers at the event emphasized the lasting impact of BPCC, not just through its academic programs and campus expansions but through the lives it has transformed.
Brian Crawford of Willis-Knighton Health Systems spoke on the power of education, saying, “Dreams start with associate degrees. Dreams start very small. They start one class at a time. It’s not about the buildings that were at Airline Drive or these buildings. It’s about the incredible people that fill up these buildings that make Bossier Parish Community College the incredible dream maker for this community.”
The Bossier City Campus, which has grown significantly over the years, continues to be a vital part of the local economy and workforce pipeline. BPCC leadership underscored the institution’s commitment to innovation, student success, and community partnerships, adapting to meet the evolving needs of students and employers.
Kevin McCotter of Campus Facilities, Inc. echoed this sentiment, saying, “The pride and joy is not just in the buildings on this great campus. It’s in the academic programs—the technical programs, the music programs, the health and education programs. But most importantly, the students’ success stories from everyone who has walked these halls.”
Following the ceremony, a reception allowed guests to network and share memories of BPCC’s impact over the last two decades. As the institution continues to expand its programs and facilities, the 20th anniversary celebration served as a reminder of its enduring mission—to empower students, strengthen the region’s workforce, and serve as a beacon of education in Bossier Parish.
