Another big contract, new projects at General Dynamics Information Technology in Bossier

General Dynamics Information Technology outperformed the competition recently to win a five-year, $5.6 billion contract with an option for five more from the Mission Partner Capabilities Office of the U.S. Air Force. GDIT was reportedly one of two companies in the running.

The contract, which is termed "indefinite delivery indefinite quantity," was given to "modernize, integrate, operate and sustain" the so-called Mission Partner Environments, which, according to GDIT, "allow the military and its trusted partners to communicate, collaborate and share sensitive, classified information securely and in real-time." GDIT was told in November that it would receive the contract.

GDIT is a multinational company that operates in more than 50 countries worldwide providing consulting, technology and mission services in fields that include defense, intelligence, homeland security, health, state and local government and civilian agencies.

The largest of the five GDIT facilities in Louisiana is in Bossier City in the National Cyber Research Park adjacent to Bossier Parish Community College. The 850 employees at the Integrated Technology Center in Bossier specialize in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cyber defense and digital modernization, or upgrading technology and efficiency.

A 2024 Louisiana Tech University Center for Economic Research analysis found that GDIT in Louisiana created $358 million in economic impact. Based on current performance, the analysis estimated that the impact to the state over the next 10 years could be $3.5 billion.

In November, John Espinosa, GDIT's vice president and general manager, talked to The Shreveport-Bossier Advocate about a variety of projects that he believed will push GDIT's Louisiana economic impact above $3.5B.

Those include "Zero Trust," a framework that allows GDIT to secure customers' environments; "Eclipse Defense Cyber," which will defend against cyber threats in real time; post-quantum cryptography that will secure the data of quantum computers and guard against cyber threats, and more.

GDIT is a business unit of General Dynamics, a global aerospace and defense company. The company employs more than 100,000 worldwide and generated $42.3 billion in revenue in 2023.
