Financial advisors who come from military backgrounds tend to perform quite well in the financial services industry due to their military training, self-discipline, teamwork mentality, hard work and determination to meet and exceed established goals. Thus, Northwestern Mutual is excited to welcome those who meet the criteria for the role of financial advisor. Because financial advisors are professional entrepreneurs associated with Northwestern Mutual, there are no limitations on them regarding Guard/Reserve deployments. I do not know the actual percentage of military advisors; however, our home office has engaged Talent Acquisition Specialists specifically to attract, engage, and support the recruiting of military officers transitioning from the military with input from Service Academy Career Conferences (SACC). Throughout the 50 states, ex-military advisors stand ready to offer military mentorship to new advisors, not to mention non-military mentors/advisors. Recruitment, training, development, mentorship, and continuing education are honored aspects of our hiring process and retaining especially those who have served our country.
